PJ Gallagher: Changing My Mind aired on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Monday 20th May at 9.35pm.
We all know P.J. Gallagher as a genuinely, impressively funny comedian, portraying uniquely engaging characters. Who could forget Jake Stevens, Mr. Fixer and the dirty auld one? Comedy classics.
We also know P.J. as a fellow member of the Pitstop Krew, who are based in the Club’s buildings.
PJ stepped into our living rooms through the national broadcaster with a very important documentary exploring mental health.
His extraordinary personal insight launched a mission to get people talking and knowing the differences between potentially life ending mental illness and day-to-day mental health.
Life is a fine balance between living and postcards from the other side. Incredibly, suicide in Ireland is the leading cause of death in men under 25. Worryingly, Pieta House identified that 70% of its service users are female.
Men’s groups or groups such as our own PSK are part of the solution.
Shot within the PSK clubhouse, this was compelling viewing.
It’s time for men to start talking.
